I've blogged before about "starting on Monday..." but the ultimate "I'll start when..." tool is the NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION. According to www.about.com, weghtloss/fitness is the #2 top resolution in America. About half of Americans make resolutions, and less than half of THAT even remain determined passed 6 months.
We've all seen it, the jump into it January, still feeling it February, and March madness for spring break bodies...then...well...things tend to taper. Even weightloss companies and gyms push hard at the beginning of the year catering to your resolution motivation needs, then find other avenues of advertising throughout the rest of the year. And that's OK. Because we don't have ONE day a year to make that choice, we don't lose our means of motivation after January 31. We have 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day support. God is always there to push us, help us, listen to us. If we are relying on him to be involved in our fitness goals...He will be there to be relied on...January 1 - December 31. Every year. So go ahead...make that resolution! And this year, instead of relying on yourself to follow through...rely on our Lord & Savior...with Him in the gym with you, I promise you'll become one of the 25% of resolution makers that stick with it.
"Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit"
says the Lord God Almighty.
(And ya know what? If you find yourself having slipped in February, or March, etc.....EACH day is a new day! January 1st is not the only day of the year to make a good choice for yourself! This is a DAILY resolution!)
Tips to KEEP that resolution:
Make specific goals for yourself-WRITE THEM DOWN! SHARE THEM!
DAILY GOAL: something you will CHANGE in your daily routine
WEEKLY GOAL: something you WILL accomplish on a weekly basis
(this can change every week!)
MONTHLY GOAL: each month, set a SPECIFIC goal to accomplish that
month (this SHOULD change every month)
Writing down your goals will keep them tangible, and sharing them with someone you trust to keep you accountable is so helpful!
And know that I'm on this journey with you!
DAILY: drink 80 oz of water & get @ least 7 hours of sleep
WEEKLY: run @ least 20 miles (usually in 5 workouts)
MONTHLY: to run 10 miles at once by Feb.1, 2012
HAPPY, BLESSED, SUCCESSFUL, PRAYERFUL, HAPPY, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
